Look at this beauty. Her mom, Willow, has been at her side, assisting her curious calf in navigating life. Get ready to go all swooning and cheesy as they create a bond and find their place together.
Ivy, a Masai giraffe baby born in April, has come out to the savanna. Guests can spot her on Kilimanjaro Safaris with her mother, Willow!
At nearly 300 pounds and about 7½ feet tall, Ivy is growing quickly and revealing her curious side as she looks at the herd and explores the area around her.
Her arrival at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park is important for her rare species. There are only about 30,000 of them left in the world, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Disney collaborates with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan to ensure the healthy survival of giraffes.
The animal care team is keeping an eye on the newborn's growth. They report she has had her first checkup and is doing great with her mom's care as she explores and learns each day.

Speaking of Walt Disney World® Resort baby animals settling at their new home, one of the animal keepers Mel shared:
“We’ve been welcoming new baby animals to the lodge since its opening more than 25 years ago, so our team knows exactly how to prepare them for life on the savanna — from gradual introductions to space and sounds to watching how they respond to mom and their new environments.”
Mel also added an endearing fact about animals and their uniqueness: “Even with all that experience, no two arrivals are ever the same.”
You may have seen these little pigs before. Mason, Cooper, and Phillip are small red river hog piglets born to their mother, Clementine. Demi, born soon after, is from mom Persimmon. They are exploring their savanna home at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Lodge. These cuties are full of spunky energy as they stay with their moms and discover their new habitat.
Mabel is the first Ankole calf born at Walt Disney World® Resort in over 20 years. She is doing well with help from Disney’s animal care team. Right now, she is tiny, but she will eventually grow the amazing horns that Ankole cattle are known for. Isn't she beautiful?
Right now, these young animals are with their mothers backstage, getting stronger, and receiving care all the time. They will soon appear in Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Lodge this summer.
